A Journal, a Website, and a New Approach to Publishing
Another America is an emerging platform for writers
to be published and distributed outside the structure that is currently in
existence, and a direct challenge to the gathering and enforced national
silence of our time.
The advent of print-on-demand publishing has created an
alternative to the slow consolidation of the publishing industry. The
inexpensive digital creation of printed books, ready to ship within a few
hours, with no inventory or overstocks, presents an opportunity for each
writer, publisher, and bookstore to take a chance with words and ideas. Another
America’s objective is to realize the potential of this new technology for
nothing less than the re-democratization and re-diversification of the nation’s
national literature.
Another America’s editorial board of noted writers is
assembling exceptional new work from both established and unpublished writers
into its printed collection Another America, The Journal. Its
website, Another America.org is a more expansive format which provides
a much-needed forum for writers’ groups and individuals of all kinds to post noted work of
their members, to bring their ideas and insights to a much larger audience
than has been previously available to them.
The Another America Press will use its journal and
website to initiate, encourage, and promote the publication of titles from
distinctive authors, and bring their otherwise homeless important work to
press, to the public, and to the prominence they deserve.
Another America is offering cost-free exposure to new
writers. Interested writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, or
screenwriting are invited to submit samples of their work for posting on the
Another America website, an emerging flash-point and forum for writers who are
gathering outside the palace of the mass-publishing industry.
